Construction site sign FAQ

How much does a 4x8 site sign cost?
A 4x8 sign on posts starts from $400 installed, removal included. Printing is quoted separately.
Can a site sign stay up for the whole project?
Tell us how long the project runs and we pick a build for it, like a frame or a 3-post board. It depends on the town and on the permit, if the sign needs one. For for sale and lease signs, many towns set a deadline after the property sells or leases: 14 days in some, 30 days in others, and some set none. A permit for a larger sign can set its own dates. Tell us how long you need it and we will check the rules for that site.
Do I need a permit for a construction site sign?
It depends on the town and the size. On the sign rules pages we keep (last checked November 3, 2026), most towns let a for sale or lease sign go up without a permit up to a set size, usually 0.5 to 1.2 m² on a residential lot, with some allowing 2 to 4 m² on commercial land. A 4 x 4 board is about 1.5 m² and a 4 x 8 board is about 3 m². A board over the permit-free size may need a municipal permit. We help you check the by-law before we install. This is general information, not legal advice. The town has the final word.
Do you get locates?
Yes. We book a locate through Ontario Dig Authority (formerly Ontario One Call) before every dig, so buried lines are marked before a post goes in the ground.
How long does it take?
Oversized and commercial installs take up to 3 business days. A permit or a locate can add time, and we tell you before we book.
Can you make an arrow sign for the sales office?
Tell us the shape, the size and where it goes, and we tell you what we can build. Pick "Something else" in the estimate on this page.
Who installs the sign?
We do. Our own crew installs every large sign in every area we serve. We do not hand these jobs to subcontractors.
